Sunny and beautiful day today for the first races in Los Alcazares, Spain. Wind around 10 knots and small waves where conditions for sailors on this 2017 European Laser 4.7 Championships.
European Laser 4.7 Youth Championships – Girls results
Girls fleet is led by Italian sailors on this first day of competition. After 2 races is Giorgia Cingolani ITA who’s heading qualifying series overall and also U16 category with 6 points (5-1), followed by Federica Cattarozzi ITA (4-3), both from Circolo Vela Torbole.
Third place overall and second U16 is for Belgium Eline Verstraelen BEL with 9 (1-8).
Fourth and fifth places with also 9 points for locals for Catherine Havenga ESP (7-2) and Maria Ferragut ESP (4-5).
101 girls competing, divided in two fleets.
Mar Menor Trophy
Spectacular racing day in the Mar Menor for the Laser 4.7 fleet.
Turkish teams made and exhibition in the Mar Menor waters. Yigit Yalcin (TUR) wins in Boys fleet followed by italian Riccardo Arkwright and Martino Pettini as bronze. Also Turkish Llada Veziroglu wins in girls with Spanish Alena Marin - Armero as Silver and also Spanihs Carmen Martinez - Artero as third.
Everything ready for the European Laser 4.7 Championship
With almost all the participants already arrived at the venue of the event in the Mar Menor, the organizers are finalising the last details so that tomorrow Saturday begin the measurements or inspections of the European Championship.
Today at 1500 hours will take place the Mar Menor trophy preparatory to the European Championship with three races that will help the sailors to know in detail the tactical area of the Mar Menor.
MAR MENOR TROPHY
After requests from sailors and coaches, the organizers have accepted to organize a "fun regatta" previous to the European Championship at the same place, time and course areas.
This unnofficial event will be named "Mar Menor trophy" and will be sailed on Friday 14th April for those sailors already arrived to Los Alcázares. The scheduled starting time will be at 1500. Boys and Girls will sail together at the same course area but will be scored separately.
